A Gallery for Every Home!

Get some of your favorite photos off your computer and out where they can be seen by turning a wall in your home into an art gallery!  Using a range of sizes, shapes, and frame finishes makes a wonderfully creative statement, and you’ll get lots of practice using a hammer and nails.  Following are some photos for inspiration and a few tips to help you get started.

I love mixing other things in with the frames, it definitely is a more casual look.
This is technically not a wall of frames, but a chalkboard wall!

To help you get started with this project, first decide if you want a casual look or one that is more tailored or formal.  Using matching frames will give you that tailored look, while mixing your frame colors and styles will be more casual.  It might be easiest to lay your framed pieces out on the floor first to decide on your layout before getting out the hammer and nails!  Pottery Barn sells a “Gallery in a Box” which is an easy way to get started.
I found this statement in the Winter 2013 Cambria Style magazine that I think is apropos of this post:

There are moments in life…  and then there are moments:  those magical times when the world seems to stand still as an experience imprints itself on your memory.  These are the pictures that live brighter and longer in our minds than any snapshot could ever hope to.  Next time you find yourself reaching for a camera, take a second to pause and savor what you’re recording.  Notice each nuance – the sounds, the scents, the feelings – and lose yourself in the moment.
