Spring is a great time to think about new beginnings. It’s no surprise that for the last 26 years the local Remodeler’s Showcase tour has helped countless people plan for a fresh start in their kitchen, bathroom, or their whole house. Being able to see a remodeling project in a house like yours, in a neighborhood as old as yours, or in the same architectural style gives ideas for an existing home that a tour of new construction can’t. The architecture of the 1920’s bungalow and the 1960’s rambler has given way to today’s open floor plans and higher ceilings that don’t quite relate to the older vintages.
Sparrow and Stoll, LLC, teaming up with Ellis Builders, Inc., is showing a newly remodeled kitchen in the Remodeler’s Showcase tour this spring that combines the modern family-friendly amenities found in today’s new homes with charm and style to seamlessly flow with the rest of the 1906 Lowry Hill home. Working closely with the homeowners to design a space that reflected their personalities while remaining true to the architecture of the home resulted in a fabulously functional kitchen featuring:

Reclaimed wood. The stunning maple island top re-uses a valuable resource and will provide timeless beauty for years to come.

Visible filament light fixtures. It’s a contemporary vibe that evokes the era of Thomas Edison. Absolutely fitting above the island work space.

Boot bench by back door. A closet that was added in a 1980’s remodel was replaced with updated and more functional locker-type storage.

Period style pieces. The AGA range and single-bowl apron front sink provide strong period aesthetics with modern cooking and cleaning conveniences.
