What is the NKBA, and why does it matter?
By Nancy August 24th, 2009
I have been a member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) since I started in this industry over 10 years ago. The NKBA has been promoting the kitchen and bath industry for almost 50 years. The local chapter typically meets once a month, often at a fashionable showroom in the area. We drink wine and eat appetizers and mingle with other kitchen and bath designers and industry partners, and it’s always a lot of fun. Besides the camaraderie, and more importantly, we’re introduced to new products and ideas, we’re updated on industry happenings, and we’re kept abreast of new code and legislation changes. In fact, I need to continuously be learning this craft to keep my certification as an Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer (AKBD).
Why is this important to our clients? In addition to knowing that Sparrow & Stoll is keeping up on industry knowledge and adhering to a standard of professionalism and ethical business practices, the NKBA also offers a lot of information to consumers. From the “Inspiration Gallery” to the “Tips and How-to” articles, the NKBA website offers a wealth of information to get you started on ideas for your own project. If you’re considering a kitchen or bath remodel, spend some time on the website. It will generate ideas as well as give you direction on what kinds of questions to ask, and expect from, your designers.
