Wallpaper Scraps

If you haven’t noticed, wallpaper has made a HUGE, absolutely GINORMOUS comeback. I’m not even done stripping the old stuff out of my house and I’m actually thinking about putting some new stuff in. If you have done a remodel or interior design project with us in the last year or so, chances are we have recommended some wallpaper.

But once it’s up on the wall, what to do with the leftovers? There usually is at least some part of a roll left. Here are some ideas for you:

1. Cover a lampshade. Size a piece of wallpaper to the circumference and the height, and use tape or hot glue to create a whole new look.

2. Instant art. Paste a pattern (or several remnants) to a wall or backing and frame it with molding.

3. Wrap presents. It’s heavier and more durable than your typical wrapping paper.

4. Dress up a light switch. Remove the switch plate from the wall and place a piece of wallpaper on it. Carefully cut out the slot for the switch, fold the paper over the edges, glue it down with some craft glue, and screw it back into place.

5. Mat photos. Use it to surround a picture in a frame.

6. Back a glass tabletop. Revamp a plain glass surface by layering a sheet of paper underneath.
